REREADING BRAHMS
The International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) prize for the category “DVD Performance” has been awarded to the boxed set Rereading Brahms of the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana and its principal conductor Markus Poschner!
Markus Poschner's co-finalists for this much-coveted and prestigious discographic award were some of the most respected and celebrated players on the international music scene: the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Riccardo Chailly. The prize is all the more extraordinary given that Brahms’s symphonies are among the most frequently recorded works in the repertoire.
The International Classical Music Awards are the only truly international and independent awards in the world of classical music. The jury consists of professional music critics from the most important European media (web, journals and radio), as follows: Andante (Turkey), Crescendo (Belgium), Das Orchester (Germany), Gramofon (Hungary), HRT Croatian Radiotelevision (Croatia), MDR Kultur (Germany), Musica (Italy), Musical Life (Russia), Musik & Theater (Switzerland), Opera (UK), Orpheus Radio (Russia), Pizzicato (Luxembourg), Radio 100,7 (Luxembourg), Resmusica.com (Francia), Rondo Classic (Finland), Scherzo (Spain), IMZ International Music + Media Centre (Austria). www.icma-info.com
