 Thomas Königstorfer has been Commercial Director of the Bruckner Orchester Linz since 2000. Born in Linz in 1966 he attended the Johannes Kepler University Linz from which he graduated magna cum laude in Business Information Technology, majoring in Marketing and Organisation. He pursued his international education in Asia as part of the Dr Sohmen Stipendium. Prior to his engagement with the Bruckner Orchestra Thomas Königstorfer held various positions at the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) over a period of almost fifteen years. He was responsible among other duties for setting up the marketing sector at the ORF’s Upper Austria Studio, and was appointed Head of Marketing within the ORF General Management as successor to Gerhard Zeiler. He assumed that position from 1997 to 1999. While working for the ORF Thomas Königstorfer was always active as a journalist and presenter for cultural affairs, presenting among others the weekly cultural magazine Bilder aus Österreich for 3sat. Through the ORF's close ties with the Ars Electronica Festival Mr Königstorfer was also a co-author of the feasibility study for the Ars Electronica Center. His book Station Zukunft is published by the Dr. Müller Verlag. Thomas Königstorfer acquired a wealth of experience in the media sector in the course of the reorientation processes of the ORF 1 and ORF 2 television channels, the Radio Oberösterreich radio programme and the ORF Nachlese magazine, experience which has now benefited the Bruckner Orchester Linz with the positioning of Klassik neu Denken [Rethinking the Classical] and the corresponding advertising concept. In fact the advertising concept for the Bruckner Orchester Linz was rewarded in 2003 as one of the country’s ten best advertising campaigns by the Jury of the Cäsar Advertising Award. Through his activities with the Bruckner Orchester Linz and the Linz Landestheater Thomas Königstorfer is also a member of the Board of societies such as Presto, Verein der Freunde für ein Linzer Musiktheater and Eyes & Ears of Europe. Thomas Königstorfer has also been Secretary General of the umbrella organisation of Austrian Theatres [Theatererhalterverband der österreichischen Bundesländer] since January 2005. |
