Welcome in 2010 . 2011 Dear Friends of the Bruckner Orchester Linz and music-lovers everywhere! It is with great pleasure that we present our 2010 . 2011 season. Over the past several years, our season brochure has grown to the extent that it has actually turned into an “orchestra book”, displaying our extensive symphonic repertoire in a visual format that is easy to use. Popular well-known compositions are often juxtaposed with interesting premieres of contemporary works. This season we are observing the anniversaries of Robert Schumann, Kurt Schwertsik and Gustav Mahler and continuing our cyclical performances of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphonies with numbers 1, 2 and 4. Bruckner Orchester concerts will feature an impressive array of internationally known guest artists and conductors. We are especially delighted to welcome back Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, who will conduct Bruckner’s 5th Symphony just days before his 87th Birthday. We look forward to an exciting and inspiring season, and cordially invite you to join us! Download: Orchestra Book 2010 . 2011 |

NEW SAESON 2009 . 2010 54 Concerts and 16 Opera Productions are waiting for you! From Haydn to Beethoven – From Linz to New York The new concert programm 2009/2010 includes the Bruckner Orchester's very active participation in the international Haydn celebrations of 2009. The Orchester's exploration of the last six London Symphonies culminates with a performance of Haydn's Symphony No. 104 in D major at the traditional New Year's concert 2010. This masterpiece, composed in 1795 - four years after Mozart's death and four years before Beethoven presented his 1st symphony - represents a milestone in the development of the Viennese Classical Symphony. Upon concluding its Haydn series, the Bruckner Orchester embarks under Music Director Dennis Russell Davies a complete cycle of the Beethoven symphonies, beginning in early 2010 with the 1st and 3rd symphonies. In addition, the Bruckner Orchester's season program offers its usual great range of symphonic music from many eras, with a special nod to more recent repertory, often in the form of Austrian or world premieres, a continuing indication of the leading role the orchestra has assumed in Austria and internationally through imaginative programming. In November 2009 the Bruckner Orchester makes its second three-week visit to the United States for a concert tour of the American East Coast stretching from Connecticut to Florida, via New York and North Carolina. For the second time, this tour under chief conductor Dennis Russell Davies features four major performances in New York City, a rare distinction internationally, including the original version of Bruckner's 4th symphony at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall and three concerts at the "Next Wave Festival" of the Brooklyn Academy of Music: Capitalizing on the international focus on Linz at the world premiere of "Kepler" here in September 2009, the Bruckner Orchester will be joined at the Brooklyn Academy by soloists and chorus of the Landestheater Linz in presenting the American premiere of Philip Glass' music. |
